of hardened wood, the quarterstaff is an inexpensive form of defense
for those without means or skill. The quarterstaff deals non-lethal
damage. It can be made to deal lethal damage, but the damage bonus is
reduced to -1. The quarterstaff can be used as a double weapon or as
a reach weapon, but cannot be used as both at the same time.
Sarissa

The Sarissa is an extremely
long (15 foot) spear used by the famous phalanx of the Hellenistic
Infantry. Alone, the Sarissa is not an effective weapon because it is
useless at close range. However, when wielded by a formation of
well-trained soldiers, it's presents an unassailable wall of
desctruction in large-scale combat.
Special Rules: Due to its
design, the Sarissa threatens an area 15 and 20 feet away from the
wielder, but cannot be used to make attacks within 10 feet.

the Aegean area, but its use is limited compaared to the much more
common Gladius, or "shortsword." In Keltic areas or among starting
Keltic characters, the cost of the Spatha is reduced by 5.

The Tulwar is a large, two-handed
sword with a curved design. It comes from the Indus peoples
to the far East, but has become a fairly common sight among the
Medians and even some Ashemite cities. In Media or among Median
starting characters, the cost of the Tulwar is reduced by 5.
