Cestus
The cestus is an ancient version of brass knuckles. It is made from a strap of leather bound to the fist. Due to its design it cannot be disarmed.

Falcata
The common weapon of the Dracian infantry, the Falcata is a short curved sword whose heft is useful for hacking through an enemy's armor.

Pilum
The pilum is the the throwing spear of the Thuman legions. It is designed to bend rather than break and it can thus be used to weigh down enemy shields.
Special Rules: The wielder of the pilum can make a ranged attack against an opponent's shield. On a successful hit, the pilum buries itself in the opponent's shield. The shield may continue to be used but at a -2 penalty to its normal defense bonus. Removing the embedded pilum is a full-round action and provokes attacks of opportunity.

Quarterstaff
A simple long shaft of hardened wood, the quarterstaff is an inexpensive form of defense for those without means or skill. The quarterstaff deals non-lethal damage. It can be made to deal lethal damage, but the damage bonus is reduced to -1. The quarterstaff can be used as a double weapon or as a reach weapon, but cannot be used as both at the same time.

Sarissa

The Sarissa is an extremely long (15 foot) spear used by the famous phalanx of the Hellenistic Infantry. Alone, the Sarissa is not an effective weapon because it is useless at close range. However, when wielded by a formation of well-trained soldiers, it's presents an unassailable wall of desctruction in large-scale combat.
Special Rules: Due to its design, the Sarissa threatens an area 15 and 20 feet away from the wielder, but cannot be used to make attacks within 10 feet.

Spatha
The classic "longsword", the Spatha is a weapon of Keltic design, and even among the Kelti is only used by the more privileged members of the clan. It sees some use in the Aegean area, but its use is limited compaared to the much more common Gladius, or "shortsword." In Keltic areas or among starting Keltic characters, the cost of the Spatha is reduced by 5.

Tulwar
The Tulwar is a large, two-handed sword with a curved design. It comes from the Indus peoples to the far East, but has become a fairly common sight among the Medians and even some Ashemite cities. In Media or among Median starting characters, the cost of the Tulwar is reduced by 5.
